- 8 oz elbow macaroni
- 2 cups cooked chicken, shredded or cubed
- 2 cups broccoli florets
- 2 tbsp butter
- 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 2 cups milk
- 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- Salt to taste
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional, for topping)
Instructions
- Cook macaroni according to package directions. Drain and set aside.
- Steam broccoli until tender, about 5-7 minutes. Set aside.
- In a large saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Stir in flour and cook for 1-2 minutes to make a roux.
- Gradually whisk in milk and cook, stirring constantly, until thickened, about 5 minutes.
- Stir in cheddar cheese, garlic powder, black pepper, and salt. Mix until cheese is fully melted and sauce is smooth.
- Add cooked macaroni, chicken, and broccoli to the cheese sauce. Stir to combine.
- Transfer to a baking dish if desired, sprinkle with Parmesan cheese, and broil for 2-3 minutes until golden (optional).
