These warm baked apple fritters are a delightful treat perfect for breakfast or dessert. Filled with diced apples and warm spices, these fritters are baked to golden perfection and drizzled with a sweet glaze.

Ingredients

Dry Ingredients:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg

Wet Ingredients:

  • 2/3 cup whole milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter (melted)

Additional Ingredients:

  • 2 cups peeled and diced apples (such as Granny Smith)
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 12 tbsp milk (for glaze)
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Prepare apples: Toss diced apples with lemon juice in a bowl and set aside.
  3. Mix dry ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  4. Combine wet ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk milk, eggs, vanilla, and melted butter. Pour into dry ingredients and mix.
  5. Add apples: Fold in diced apples. Scoop batter onto baking sheet and flatten.
  6. Bake: Bake for 18–22 minutes until golden and a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. Make glaze: Mix powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla for glaze.
  8. Glaze: Drizzle warm fritters with glaze before serving.

Notes

  • Best enjoyed warm on the day they’re baked.
  • Reheat in the oven at 300°F for 5–7 minutes.
  • Add chopped pecans for extra texture if desired.
