Description

Ingredients

Dry Ingredients:

  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 ½ teaspoons baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt

Wet Ingredients:

  • ¾ cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 1 ¾ cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs (room temperature)
  • 1 tablespoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1 cup whole milk (room temperature)
  • ½ cup sour cream


Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare: Preheat the oven to 350°F and grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Cream Butter and Sugar: In a large bowl, cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, beating well. Stir in vanilla extract.
  4. Combine Wet and Dry: Mix milk and sour cream. Alternately add dry ingredients and milk mixture to butter mixture. Mix until combined.
  5. Bake: Divide batter between pans and bake for 25–30 minutes. Cool before frosting.
