Ingredients
Dry Ingredients:
- 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 2 ½ teaspoons baking powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
Wet Ingredients:
- ¾ cup unsalted butter (softened)
- 1 ¾ cups granulated sugar
- 4 large eggs (room temperature)
- 1 tablespoon pure vanilla extract
- 1 cup whole milk (room temperature)
- ½ cup sour cream
Instructions
- Preheat and Prepare: Preheat the oven to 350°F and grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
- Mix Dry Ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Cream Butter and Sugar: In a large bowl, cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, beating well. Stir in vanilla extract.
- Combine Wet and Dry: Mix milk and sour cream. Alternately add dry ingredients and milk mixture to butter mixture. Mix until combined.
- Bake: Divide batter between pans and bake for 25–30 minutes. Cool before frosting.
