Description

Ingredients

Cupcake Batter:

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs, room temperature
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup whole milk, room temperature

Frosting:

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, browned and cooled
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt


Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat to 350°F (175°C) and line a muffin tin with cupcake liners.
  2. Brown the butter: Melt butter in a saucepan until golden brown. Let cool.
  3. Prepare batter: Whisk flour, baking powder, and salt. Beat browned butter with sugar, add eggs and vanilla. Alternate adding dry ingredients and milk.
  4. Bake: Fill cupcake liners and bake for 18–20 minutes. Cool before frosting.
  5. Make frosting: Beat browned butter, powdered sugar, cream, vanilla, and salt until fluffy. Frost cooled cupcakes.
