Description

These juicy turkey burgers are a lighter alternative to traditional beef burgers, packed with flavor and perfect for grilling or stovetop cooking. They make for a nutritious and satisfying meal, featuring lean ground turkey, a blend of tasty seasonings, and your favorite toppings.

Ingredients

For the Turkey Patties

  • 1 pound ground turkey (preferably 93% lean)
  • 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons finely chopped onion
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

For Cooking

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (for stovetop) or nonstick spray (for grill)

For Serving

  • 4 burger buns, toasted
  • Lettuce leaves
  • Tomato slices
  • Red onion rings
  • Your favorite burger condiments (ketchup, mustard, mayonnaise, etc.)
  • Cheese slices (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Burger Mixture: In a large bowl, combine the ground turkey, breadcrumbs, egg, chopped onion, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, minced garlic, salt, and black pepper. Use your hands or a spatula to gently mix everything until just combined. Be careful not to overmix, as this can make the burgers tough.
  2. Form the Patties: Divide the turkey mixture into 4 equal portions. With damp hands, shape each portion into a patty about 1/2-inch thick. Press a slight indentation into the center of each patty with your thumb to help them cook evenly.
  3. Cook the Patties: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat, or preheat your grill to medium-high and coat the grates with nonstick spray. Cook the patties for 5–6 minutes per side, or until they are golden brown on the outside and cooked through (the internal temperature should reach 165°F/74°C).
  4. Toast the Buns: While the patties are cooking, toast the burger buns on the grill or in a toaster until golden and slightly crisp.
  5. Assemble the Burgers: Place each turkey patty on a bottom bun. Top with lettuce, tomato slices, onion rings, cheese if using, and your favorite condiments. Cover with the top bun and serve immediately.

Notes

  • For extra moist burgers, avoid overmixing the turkey mixture.
  • Add your favorite herbs or spices, like smoked paprika or chopped parsley, for additional flavor.
  • If grilling, brush the patties lightly with oil to prevent sticking.
  • Use whole wheat buns for extra fiber, or lettuce wraps for a low-carb option.
