Ingredients

Main Ingredients:

  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Additional:

  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup chopped toasted almonds or pecans (optional)

Instructions

  2. Melt Butter: In a medium saucepan, melt butter over medium heat.
  3. Add Sugar and Salt: Stir in sugar and salt, cook until mixture boils.
  4. Reach Hard Crack Stage: Cook until mixture reaches 300°F, then remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.
  5. Pour and Spread: Pour hot toffee onto the prepared sheet, spread evenly.
  6. Add Chocolate: Sprinkle chocolate chips, let melt, then spread into a layer.
  7. Top with Nuts: Sprinkle chopped nuts over the chocolate if desired.

  • Using a candy thermometer is recommended for best results.
