Description

Indulge in the decadent delight of Shibuya Honey Toast, a Japanese-inspired dessert that combines sweet, toasted bread with creamy ice cream and a medley of toppings for a truly unforgettable treat.

Ingredients

Bread:

1 unsliced loaf of thick Japanese milk bread or brioche (about 6 inches square)

Honey Butter Coating:

3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted, 2 tablespoons honey, 1 tablespoon granulated sugar

Additional:

2 scoops vanilla ice cream, assorted toppings like whipped cream, berries, chocolate sauce, caramel, and sliced almonds (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Bread: Preheat oven to 350°F. Hollow out bread loaf, leaving a border. Cut inside bread into cubes.
  2. Toast Cubes: Toss bread cubes with butter, honey, and sugar. Toast in oven until golden and crispy.
  3. Toast Bread Shell: Brush inside of hollowed bread with butter. Toast until slightly crisp.
  4. Assemble: Fill bread with toasted cubes. Drizzle with honey, add ice cream, and toppings. Serve warm.

Notes

  • Enhance flavor by adding cinnamon to the butter-honey coating.
  • Best served fresh and warm for optimal texture contrast.
