Ingredients
For the cake:

- 3 cups powdered sugar
- 1/3 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
- Prepare the cake batter: In a large bowl, mix together flour, sugar, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Stir in milk, oil, eggs, and vanilla until well combined. Stir in boiling water until the batter is smooth.
- Bake the cakes: Pour the batter evenly into the prepared pans. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
- Make the frosting: In a medium saucepan, melt the butter. Stir in cocoa. Alternately add powdered sugar and milk, beating to spreading consistency. Add more milk if needed. Stir in vanilla.
- Frost the cake: Place one cake layer on a serving plate. Spread a layer of frosting on top. Top with the second cake layer and frost the top and sides of the cake with the remaining frosting. Enjoy!
