- 1 loaf French bread
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Cut the French bread in half lengthwise.
- In a bowl, mix together the softened butter, minced garlic, chopped parsley, salt, pepper, and olive oil.
- Spread the garlic butter mixture evenly over both halves of the bread.
- Sprinkle Parmesan cheese on top if using.
- Place the bread halves on a baking sheet, buttered side up.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are golden and crispy.
- For extra crispiness, broil on high for an additional 1-2 minutes, watching carefully to avoid burning.
- Remove from oven, slice, and serve warm.
Notes
- You can use garlic powder instead of fresh garlic in a pinch.
- Add mozzarella cheese for a cheesy version.
- Great served with pasta or soup.
