Wet Ingredients:
- 1 cup unsalted butter (softened)
- 3/4 cup brown sugar (packed)
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
Mix-ins:
- 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Prepare the dry ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
- Cream the butter and sugars: In a large bowl, beat the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until creamy and light, about 2 minutes.
- Add eggs and vanilla: Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract.
- Combine wet and dry ingredients: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.
- Include mix-ins: Fold in the chocolate chips and nuts, if desired.
- Bake: Drop tablespoon-sized scoops of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart. Bake for 9–11 minutes, or until golden edges and set centers.
- Cool and enjoy: Allow the cookies to cool on the pan for 2 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
- For extra gooey centers, chill the dough for 30 minutes before baking.
- Swap in dark chocolate chips or sea salt flakes for a gourmet twist.
