Description

Enjoy a taste of Thailand with this flavorful Thai Lime-Garlic Steamed Fish recipe. Delicate white fish fillets are infused with zesty lime, savory fish sauce, and aromatic garlic, creating a light and healthy dish that’s perfect for a quick and delicious meal.

Ingredients

Ingredients:

  • 2 white fish fillets (such as tilapia, cod, or sea bass)
  • 2 tbsp lime juice
  • 1 tbsp fish sauce
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp water
  • 3 garlic cloves, finely minced
  • 1 small red chili, thinly sliced (optional)
  • 1/2 tsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp chopped cilantro
  • 1 green onion, thinly sliced
  • lime wedges for serving

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, mix the lime juice, fish sauce, soy sauce, water, garlic, chili (if using), and sugar. This creates the flavorful sauce for the fish.
  2. Place the fish fillets on a heatproof plate that fits inside your steamer. Pour the sauce mixture over the fish.
  3. Set up a steamer or a pot with a steaming rack and bring water to a boil. Place the plate with the fish into the steamer, cover, and steam for 8–10 minutes or until the fish is cooked through and flakes easily with a fork.
  4. Remove carefully and garnish with chopped cilantro and green onion. Serve hot with lime wedges on the side.

Notes

  • Serve with jasmine rice or steamed vegetables for a full meal.
  • You can use parchment paper or banana leaves to wrap the fish before steaming for extra aroma.
  • Adjust chili based on spice preference.
