Description

Create your own flavorful tandoori seasoning blend at home with this easy recipe. This aromatic mix of spices is perfect for marinating proteins or vegetables, adding a taste of India to your dishes.

Ingredients

Spice Blend:

  • 1 tablespoon ground cumin
  • 1 tablespoon ground coriander
  • 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon ground turmeric
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together the cumin, coriander, paprika, turmeric, ginger, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, cinnamon, cloves, and salt until well combined.
  2. Transfer the mixture to an airtight container and store in a cool, dry place for up to 6 months.
  3. To use, apply 1–2 tablespoons of the seasoning per pound of protein or vegetables, or mix with yogurt and lemon juice for a traditional tandoori marinade.

Notes

  • This tandoori spice blend is great for marinating chicken, tofu, paneer, or vegetables.
  • For a less spicy blend, reduce or omit the cayenne pepper according to your preference.
