Description

Taco pizza combines two family favorites—tacos and pizza—into one delicious, crowd-pleasing meal. With a crispy crust, seasoned beef, zesty taco sauce, gooey cheese, and fresh toppings like lettuce, tomato, and sour cream, this easy dinner is perfect for weeknights, parties, or game day.

Ingredients

Meat and Seasoning

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 packet taco seasoning mix (or 2 tablespoons homemade)
  • 1/3 cup water

Pizza Base and Sauce

  • 1 (12-inch) pre-baked pizza crust or refrigerated pizza dough
  • 1/2 cup taco sauce or salsa

Cheeses

  • 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

Toppings

  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • 1 medium tomato, diced
  • 1/4 cup sliced black olives (optional)
  • 1/4 cup diced red onion (optional)
  • Sour cream for drizzling or dipping
  • Chopped cilantro for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) to ensure it reaches the right temperature for baking the pizza perfectly.
  2. Cook the ground beef: In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef while breaking it up into small pieces. Once browned, drain excess grease to keep the pizza from becoming soggy or too greasy.
  3. Season the meat: Stir in the taco seasoning and 1/3 cup water with the beef. Simmer gently for 2–3 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld and the mixture to thicken slightly. Remove from heat once ready.
  4. Prepare the pizza base: Place your pre-baked pizza crust or rolled-out refrigerated dough onto a baking sheet or pizza stone, providing a sturdy foundation for your toppings.
  5. Assemble the pizza: Spread the taco sauce evenly over the crust, then layer the seasoned beef on top. Sprinkle with shredded cheddar and mozzarella cheeses evenly to cover the meat.
  6. Bake the pizza: Place the assembled pizza into the preheated oven and bake for 10–12 minutes, or until the cheese is melted, bubbly, and slightly golden.
  7. Finish with fresh toppings: Remove the pizza from the oven and let it cool slightly. Add shredded lettuce, diced tomato, black olives, and red onion on top for a fresh crunch and added flavor.
  8. Add sour cream and garnish: Drizzle sour cream over the pizza or serve it on the side for dipping. Garnish with chopped cilantro if desired.
  9. Serve: Slice the pizza and serve immediately for best taste and texture.

Notes

  • For extra crunch, sprinkle crushed tortilla chips on top before serving.
  • Use a crescent roll or biscuit dough base for a softer, doughier crust.
  • Ground turkey or black beans can be used as a lighter or vegetarian alternative.
