Ingredients
Dough:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon baking soda
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- ½ cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
- ¾ cup buttermilk (plus more for brushing)
- 1 cup fresh or frozen blueberries
- 1 tablespoon coarse sugar (optional, for topping)
Glaze:
- ½ cup powdered sugar
- 1–2 tablespoons milk
- ¼ teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 425°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Mix dry ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and granulated sugar.
- Combine butter: Cut in cold butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Add buttermilk: Gently stir in buttermilk until just combined.
- Include blueberries: Fold in blueberries carefully.
- Shape and bake: Turn out dough, cut into rounds, place on baking sheet, brush with buttermilk, and bake for 14–16 minutes.
- Prepare glaze: Whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract.
- Glaze and serve: Drizzle glaze over warm biscuits and serve.
Notes
- Frozen blueberries work well—do not thaw before using.
- Add lemon zest for extra flavor.
