Description

These Sweet Blueberry Biscuits are a delightful treat with a tender, fluffy texture, bursting with juicy blueberries and topped with a sweet glaze.

Ingredients

Dough:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • ¾ cup buttermilk (plus more for brushing)
  • 1 cup fresh or frozen blueberries
  • 1 tablespoon coarse sugar (optional, for topping)

Glaze:

  • ½ cup powdered sugar
  • 1–2 tablespoons milk
  • ¼ teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 425°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Mix dry ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and granulated sugar.
  3. Combine butter: Cut in cold butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Add buttermilk: Gently stir in buttermilk until just combined.
  5. Include blueberries: Fold in blueberries carefully.
  6. Shape and bake: Turn out dough, cut into rounds, place on baking sheet, brush with buttermilk, and bake for 14–16 minutes.
  7. Prepare glaze: Whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract.
  8. Glaze and serve: Drizzle glaze over warm biscuits and serve.

Notes

  • Frozen blueberries work well—do not thaw before using.
  • Add lemon zest for extra flavor.
  • Best enjoyed warm but can be stored for up to 2 days.
