Description
Strawberry Santas are a festive, no-bake holiday treat that combines fresh strawberries with a creamy sweet filling to resemble Santa Claus. These adorable snacks are easy to make, featuring a light cream cheese filling piped between strawberry pieces, decorated with chocolate chip eyes and optional coconut beards, perfect for holiday parties or as a fun family activity.
Ingredients
Fruits
- 1 pint fresh strawberries
Filling
- 4 oz cream cheese, softened
- 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Decorations
- Mini chocolate chips or black sesame seeds (for eyes)
- Shredded coconut or extra cream cheese (optional, for beard or fur trim)
Instructions
- Prepare Strawberries: Wash and thoroughly dry the strawberries to ensure they are clean and dry for assembly.
- Trim Strawberries: Slice off the leafy tops so strawberries can stand flat and stable when placed upright.
- Create Santa’s Hat: Cut off the tip of each strawberry about one-third down to make a separate “hat” piece.
- Make Filling: In a mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract together until light and fluffy for a creamy filling.
- Prepare Piping Bag: Transfer the cream cheese filling into a piping bag or a zip-top bag with a corner snipped off for controlled application.
- Form Santa’s Face and Beard: Pipe a generous swirl of the filling onto the base of each strawberry to create Santa’s face and beard area.
- Assemble Hat: Place the cut-off strawberry tip back on top to form Santa’s hat and pipe a small dot of filling on top as the pom-pom detail.
- Add Eyes: Decorate with mini chocolate chips or black sesame seeds to create Santa’s eyes.
- Optional Decoration: Sprinkle shredded coconut around the base for a fluffy beard or fur trim effect for added texture and visual appeal.
- Chill and Serve: Refrigerate the assembled Strawberry Santas until ready to serve; they are best enjoyed the same day.
Notes
- Ensure strawberries are completely dry before assembling to prevent the cream cheese filling from sliding off.
- Use softened cream cheese for a smoother, easier-to-pipe filling consistency.
- Mini chocolate chips work best for the eyes, but black sesame seeds are a great alternative for a natural look.
- Chilling the assembled Santas helps firm up the filling and enhances the flavors.
- These treats are best eaten fresh the same day to maintain strawberry freshness and filling texture.
