Ingredients
Gelatin Mixture
- 1 package (3 oz) strawberry-flavored gelatin
- 1 cup boiling water
- 1/2 cup cold water
- 1 can (20 oz) crushed pineapple with juice
Salad Mixture
- 1 container (8 oz) frozen whipped topping, thawed
- 1 cup mini marshmallows
- 1 cup chopped fresh strawberries
- 1/2 cup sour cream
Instructions
- Dissolve Gelatin: In a large bowl, dissolve the strawberry gelatin in 1 cup of boiling water, stirring well to ensure it is completely dissolved.
- Add Cold Water and Pineapple: Stir in 1/2 cup cold water along with the crushed pineapple and its juice. Mix thoroughly.
- Chill Mixture: Place the gelatin mixture in the refrigerator and chill for about 30 minutes or until it is slightly thickened but not fully set.
- Combine Salad Ingredients: Gently fold in the thawed whipped topping, sour cream, mini marshmallows, and chopped fresh strawberries. Mix carefully until all ingredients are evenly combined without deflating the whipped topping.
- Chill Before Serving: Cover the bowl and refrigerate the salad for at least 2 hours to allow the flavors to meld and the salad to set properly before serving.
Notes
- For a lighter version, use sugar-free gelatin and light whipped topping.
- Add chopped bananas or pecans to the salad for extra texture and flavor.
