Description

Indulge in the delightful flavors of these Strawberry Danishes made with puff pastry, cream cheese, fresh strawberries, and a sweet glaze. Perfect for breakfast or dessert!

Ingredients

Puff Pastry:

  • 1 sheet frozen puff pastry (thawed)

Cream Cheese Filling:

  • 4 ounces cream cheese (softened)
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon lemon zest

Strawberry Filling:

  • 1/2 cup strawberry jam or preserves
  • 1/2 cup fresh strawberries (sliced)

Additional:

  • 1 egg (beaten, for egg wash)
  • 1 tablespoon coarse sugar (optional for topping)
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 12 teaspoons milk (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Prepare Cream Cheese Filling: In a small bowl, mix softened cream cheese, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and lemon zest until smooth.
  3. Prepare Pastry: Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface and cut it into 6 equal rectangles. Score a smaller rectangle inside each piece, about 1/2 inch from the edge.
  4. Add Fillings: Spread cream cheese mixture in the center of each rectangle. Top with strawberry jam and fresh strawberry slices.
  5. Bake: Brush edges with beaten egg, sprinkle with coarse sugar, and bake for 15–18 minutes until golden and puffy.
  6. Glaze: Mix powdered sugar and milk to make a glaze. Drizzle over the cooled danishes.
  7. Serve: Enjoy warm or at room temperature.

Notes

  • You can substitute the strawberry jam with raspberry or apricot for a different flavor.
  • Best enjoyed the day they are baked; store in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
