Description

A delightful Strawberry Crunch Cake featuring a moist strawberry-flavored cake soaked in jello, topped with a creamy Cool Whip layer and a crunchy golden Oreo and strawberry jello crumble, finished with fresh strawberries for a refreshing and easy-to-make dessert perfect for gatherings.

Ingredients

Cake Base

  • 1 strawberry cake mix (with eggs and vegetable oil as per package instructions)

Jello Layers

  • 2 (3 oz) packages strawberry jello
  • 1 cup boiling water

Toppings and Crumble

  • 8 ounces Cool Whip
  • 20 golden Oreo cookies
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted
  • 20 fresh strawberries

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Cake: Prepare the strawberry cake mix according to the package instructions, using required eggs and vegetable oil. Pour the batter into a greased 9×13-inch cake pan and bake as directed.
  2. Poke Holes in Warm Cake: Once the cake comes out of the oven and is still warm, use a skewer or the back end of a wooden spoon to poke holes all over the top evenly.
  3. Make and Pour First Jello Layer: Dissolve one package of strawberry jello in 1 cup of boiling water by stirring until completely dissolved. Spoon the jello mixture evenly over the warm cake, allowing it to soak through the holes.
  4. Chill to Set: Refrigerate the cake for at least four hours or preferably overnight to let the jello set firmly into the cake.
  5. Prepare Strawberry Crumble: Crush the golden Oreo cookies in a ziplock bag using a rolling pin until no large chunks remain. In a medium bowl, combine the crushed cookies with the second package of strawberry jello and the melted butter. Mix lightly to form a crumble mixture.
  6. Spread Cool Whip: Remove the chilled cake from the refrigerator and evenly spread the 8 ounces of Cool Whip over the top layer of the cake.
  7. Add Crumble Topping: Sprinkle the strawberry crumble mixture evenly over the Cool Whip layer, creating a crunchy topping.
  8. Garnish and Serve: Top the crumble layer with fresh strawberries arranged decoratively. Slice into 16 servings and serve chilled.

Notes

  • Ensure the cake is warm when pouring the jello so it can seep into the holes effectively.
  • Refrigeration time is important for the jello to set properly; overnight chilling is preferred for best texture.
  • Golden Oreos are used for the crumble to complement the strawberry flavor without overpowering it.
  • Fresh strawberries add a natural sweetness and freshness as garnish.
  • This dessert is best served cold and is ideal for parties or special occasions.
