Ingredients
Filling
- 1 can (21 oz) strawberry pie filling
Cheesecake Layer
- 1 package (8 oz) cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup milk
Topping
- 1 box yellow cake mix
- 1/4 cup butter, melted
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon (optional for topping)
Instructions
- Preheat and Prepare Dish: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish thoroughly to ensure the cake won’t stick.
- Add Strawberry Pie Filling: Evenly spread the entire can of strawberry pie filling over the bottom of the prepared baking dish to create the juicy fruity base layer.
- Make Cheesecake Layer: In a medium mixing bowl, beat together the softened cream cheese, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and milk until the mixture is smooth and creamy. Pour this evenly over the strawberry filling layer in the baking dish.
- Add Cake Mix Topping: Sprinkle the dry yellow cake mix evenly over the cheesecake layer. Then drizzle the melted butter all over the top to moisten the cake mix, and sprinkle with cinnamon if using, to add a warm spice note.
- Bake the Cake: Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake for 40 to 45 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the cake is fully cooked through.
- Cool and Serve: Allow the dump cake to cool slightly before serving. It’s delicious warm on its own or served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, use full-fat cream cheese and whole milk.
- The cinnamon topping is optional but adds a nice depth to the flavor profile.
- Make sure the cream cheese is softened for easy mixing and a smooth cheesecake layer.
- This cake can be made in advance and reheated gently before serving.
- Store leftovers covered in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
