Description

A delightful and creamy stir-fried vegetable dish in a luscious white sauce. This fusion recipe brings together a mix of colorful veggies coated in a rich, flavorful sauce, perfect as a main course or side dish.

Ingredients

Main Vegetables:

  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 small onion (sliced)
  • 1 cup broccoli florets
  • 1 cup carrots (thinly sliced)
  • 1/2 cup bell pepper (sliced)
  • 1/2 cup green beans (trimmed)
  • 1/2 cup sweet corn kernels
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

White Sauce:

  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups milk (warm)
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon white pepper
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cook the Vegetables: Heat butter and olive oil in a skillet, sauté onion and garlic. Add vegetables, stir-fry until tender-crisp. Season with salt and pepper.
  2. Prepare the White Sauce: In a saucepan, melt butter, add flour, whisk to form a roux. Slowly pour in warm milk, whisking constantly. Cook until thickened. Stir in nutmeg, salt, white pepper, and Parmesan.
  3. Combine and Serve: Pour the white sauce over vegetables, simmer briefly. Serve warm.

Notes

  • Use any mix of seasonal vegetables.
  • For a richer sauce, use half-and-half or cream.
  • Add pasta or rice for a complete meal.
  • Omit cheese for a lighter option.
