Description

This Steak with Garlic Cream Sauce recipe features perfectly seared ribeye or strip steaks smothered in a rich, creamy garlic and Parmesan sauce. Quick and easy to prepare on the stovetop, it makes a delicious main course ideal for a satisfying dinner. The silky sauce, flavored with garlic and Italian seasoning, complements the juicy steak beautifully and can be served with mashed potatoes, roasted vegetables, or pasta.

Ingredients

Steak

  • 2 ribeye or strip steaks (about 1 inch thick)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Sauce

  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley (optional)

Instructions

  1. Season the Steaks: Pat the steaks dry with paper towels to remove moisture, then season both sides generously with salt and black pepper to enhance the meat’s natural flavor.
  2. Heat the Skillet and Sear the Steaks: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat until shimmering. Add the steaks and sear them for 3–4 minutes on each side, or until they reach your desired level of doneness. This high-heat searing locks in juices and creates a flavorful crust.
  3. Rest the Steaks: Remove the steaks from the skillet and place them on a plate. Cover loosely with foil and let rest while you prepare the sauce to allow the juices to redistribute.
  4. Make the Garlic Cream Sauce: Reduce heat to medium and add the butter to the same skillet. Once melted, add the minced garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant, ensuring the garlic does not burn.
  5. Add Cream and Cheese: Pour in the heavy cream, then stir in the grated Parmesan cheese and Italian seasoning. Simmer the sauce for 2–3 minutes, stirring frequently, until it thickens slightly and becomes rich and creamy.
  6. Combine and Serve: Return the steaks to the skillet and spoon the garlic cream sauce generously over them. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley if desired. Serve immediately for best flavor and texture.

Notes

  • Use a meat thermometer for precise doneness: 130°F for medium-rare, 140°F for medium.
  • This garlic cream sauce pairs wonderfully with mashed potatoes, roasted vegetables, or pasta for a complete meal.
  • For extra depth and richness, add a splash of white wine to the skillet before adding the cream.
