Ingredients
Meat
- 1 lb sirloin steak (cut into 1-inch cubes)
Gnocchi
- 1 lb store-bought or homemade gnocchi
Butter & Oil
- 4 tbsp butter
- 2 tbsp olive oil
Herbs & Flavorings
- 4 cloves garlic (minced)
- 1 tsp fresh rosemary (chopped)
- Salt and pepper to taste
Cheese & Garnish
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Fresh parsley for garnish
Instructions
- Season the steak: Generously season the sirloin steak cubes with salt and pepper to enhance their natural flavors before cooking.
- Sear the steak bites: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over high heat. Add the seasoned steak bites and cook for 2-3 minutes per side, until they are nicely browned on the outside. Remove them from the pan and set aside to rest.
- Pan-fry the gnocchi: In the same skillet, melt 2 tablespoons of butter. Add the gnocchi and cook, stirring occasionally, until they turn golden brown and slightly crispy, about 5-7 minutes.
- Prepare garlic-rosemary butter: Push the gnocchi to one side of the pan. Add the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter, minced garlic, and chopped rosemary to the empty side of the skillet. Cook until the garlic is fragrant, about 1 minute, being careful not to burn it.
- Toss gnocchi in butter mixture: Mix the gnocchi into the garlic and rosemary butter mixture well, allowing the flavors to coat the gnocchi evenly.
- Reheat steak bites: Return the seared steak bites to the pan with the gnocchi and toss gently to heat through and combine all the flavors.
- Add finishing touches: Sprinkle the grated Parmesan cheese over the steak and gnocchi, letting it melt slightly, and garnish with fresh parsley for a burst of color and aroma.
- Serve: Plate the dish while hot and enjoy this delicious combination of tender steak and flavorful gnocchi.
Notes
- Use fresh rosemary for the best aroma and taste; dried rosemary can work in a pinch but use sparingly.
- Homemade gnocchi can be used if preferred, but store-bought saves time and works well in this recipe.
- For medium doneness of steak bites, adjust cooking time accordingly.
- To make this recipe gluten-free, use gluten-free gnocchi.
- Leftovers can be refrigerated and gently reheated in a skillet to retain texture.
