Description

This Steak & Shrimp Stir-Fried Noodles recipe is a quick and delicious fusion dish combining tender steak, juicy shrimp, and colorful vegetables tossed with flavorful rice noodles in a savory Asian-inspired sauce. Perfect for a satisfying weeknight dinner, it offers a balanced mix of protein and veggies, all stir-fried to perfection for a tasty, vibrant meal.

Ingredients

Noodles

  • 8 oz rice noodles or lo mein noodles

Proteins

  • 1/2 lb steak (e.g., sirloin), thinly sliced
  • 1/2 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined

Sauce

  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil

Vegetables & Aromatics

  • 1 bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 cup broccoli florets
  • 1 carrot, julienned
  • 2 green onions, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1-inch piece of ginger, grated

Oils & Seasoning

  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Cook Noodles: Prepare the rice noodles or lo mein noodles according to the package instructions. Once cooked, drain thoroughly and set aside to prevent sticking.
  2. Make Sauce: In a small bowl, combine the soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, and sesame oil. Whisk them together until fully blended for the stir-fry sauce.
  3. Cook Steak: Heat 1 tablespoon of the vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the thinly sliced steak and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until browned but still tender. Remove the steak from the pan and set aside.
  4. Cook Shrimp: In the same skillet, add the shrimp and cook for 1-2 minutes on each side until they turn pink and are cooked through. Remove the shrimp from the pan and set aside with the steak.
  5. Sauté Aromatics: Add the remaining tablespoon of vegetable oil to the skillet. Stir-fry the minced garlic and grated ginger for about 30 seconds until fragrant, making sure they don’t burn.
  6. Cook Vegetables: Add the sliced bell pepper, broccoli florets, and julienned carrot to the skillet. Stir-fry the vegetables for 3-4 minutes until they are tender-crisp and vibrant.
  7. Combine Ingredients: Return the cooked steak and shrimp to the skillet along with the drained noodles. Pour the prepared stir-fry sauce over the contents and toss everything together, ensuring the noodles and proteins are evenly coated.
  8. Finish Cooking: Stir-fry the combined mixture for an additional 1-2 minutes to heat everything through and allow the sauce to meld with the noodles and ingredients.
  9. Garnish and Serve: Remove from heat and sprinkle the chopped green onions over the top before serving. Serve immediately for the best flavor and texture.

Notes

  • Use rice noodles for a gluten-free option, or lo mein noodles for a chewier texture.
  • Adjust the amount of soy sauce depending on your preferred saltiness.
  • You can substitute vegetables like snap peas or mushrooms based on availability.
  • If you like spice, add a dash of chili flakes or Sriracha to the sauce.
  • Make sure not to overcook the shrimp and steak to keep them tender.
  • Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days and reheated gently on the stovetop.
