Ingredients
Noodles
- 8 oz rice noodles or lo mein noodles
Proteins
- 1/2 lb steak (e.g., sirloin), thinly sliced
- 1/2 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined
Sauce
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
- 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
Vegetables & Aromatics
- 1 bell pepper, sliced
- 1 cup broccoli florets
- 1 carrot, julienned
- 2 green onions, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1-inch piece of ginger, grated
Oils & Seasoning
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Cook Noodles: Prepare the rice noodles or lo mein noodles according to the package instructions. Once cooked, drain thoroughly and set aside to prevent sticking.
- Make Sauce: In a small bowl, combine the soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, and sesame oil. Whisk them together until fully blended for the stir-fry sauce.
- Cook Steak: Heat 1 tablespoon of the vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the thinly sliced steak and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until browned but still tender. Remove the steak from the pan and set aside.
- Cook Shrimp: In the same skillet, add the shrimp and cook for 1-2 minutes on each side until they turn pink and are cooked through. Remove the shrimp from the pan and set aside with the steak.
- Sauté Aromatics: Add the remaining tablespoon of vegetable oil to the skillet. Stir-fry the minced garlic and grated ginger for about 30 seconds until fragrant, making sure they don’t burn.
- Cook Vegetables: Add the sliced bell pepper, broccoli florets, and julienned carrot to the skillet. Stir-fry the vegetables for 3-4 minutes until they are tender-crisp and vibrant.
- Combine Ingredients: Return the cooked steak and shrimp to the skillet along with the drained noodles. Pour the prepared stir-fry sauce over the contents and toss everything together, ensuring the noodles and proteins are evenly coated.
- Finish Cooking: Stir-fry the combined mixture for an additional 1-2 minutes to heat everything through and allow the sauce to meld with the noodles and ingredients.
- Garnish and Serve: Remove from heat and sprinkle the chopped green onions over the top before serving. Serve immediately for the best flavor and texture.
Notes
- Use rice noodles for a gluten-free option, or lo mein noodles for a chewier texture.
- Adjust the amount of soy sauce depending on your preferred saltiness.
- You can substitute vegetables like snap peas or mushrooms based on availability.
- If you like spice, add a dash of chili flakes or Sriracha to the sauce.
- Make sure not to overcook the shrimp and steak to keep them tender.
- Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days and reheated gently on the stovetop.
