- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- 8 oz shrimp, peeled and deveined
Cooking Essentials
- 1 tablespoon olive oil (or vegetable oil)
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
Noodles
- 8 oz noodles (like udon, lo mein, or spaghetti)
Sauce
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
- 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1/2 teaspoon chili flakes (optional, for heat)
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
Vegetables & Garnish
- 1 cup mixed vegetables (like bell peppers, carrots, or broccoli)
- 2 green onions, chopped
- 1 tablespoon sesame seeds (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- Prepare the Steak & Shrimp: In a small bowl, combine 2 tablespoons soy sauce with a pinch of salt and black pepper. Add the thinly sliced flank steak or sirloin and toss to coat. Let it marinate for about 10 to 15 minutes to absorb the flavors.
- Cook the Steak: Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the marinated steak slices and sear them for 2 to 3 minutes on each side until browned and cooked to your preferred doneness. Remove the steak from the skillet and set aside on a plate.
- Cook the Shrimp: In the same skillet, melt 1 tablespoon of butter. Add the peeled and deveined shrimp along with the minced garlic. Cook for 2 to 3 minutes, turning halfway through, until the shrimp turn pink and are cooked through. Remove and set aside with the steak.
- Cook the Noodles: Boil the noodles according to the package instructions until they are al dente. Drain well and set aside.
- Make the Sauce & Stir-Fry: In a small bowl, whisk together 2 tablespoons soy sauce, 2 tablespoons oyster sauce, 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce, 1 tablespoon sesame oil, 1/2 teaspoon chili flakes if using, and 1 tablespoon brown sugar. Set this flavorful sauce aside.
- Stir-fry the Vegetables: In the same skillet, add a little more oil if needed. Stir-fry the mixed vegetables for about 3 to 4 minutes until they become tender-crisp and vibrant in color.
- Combine Everything: Add the cooked noodles to the skillet with the vegetables. Pour the prepared sauce over the noodles and toss everything together thoroughly until the noodles and veggies are well coated. Return the cooked steak and shrimp to the skillet and stir gently to combine and heat through.
- Serve: Transfer the steak and shrimp noodles to serving plates. Garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds if desired. Serve immediately while hot and enjoy this flavorful and satisfying dish.
Notes
- Choose noodles you prefer such as udon, lo mein, or spaghetti based on availability and taste.
- Adjust chili flakes to control the level of heat according to your preference.
- For a vegetarian version, omit the steak and shrimp and add tofu or extra vegetables.
- Marinating the steak enhances its flavor but can be shortened if in a hurry.
- Use a large skillet or wok to ensure even cooking and easy tossing of ingredients.
