Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup melted butter
- 1 3/4 cups milk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
- Bring all ingredients to room temperature. Preheat your waffle iron.
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, beat eggs until frothy. Stir in melted butter, milk, and vanilla extract.
- Pour wet ingredients into dry ingredients and whisk gently until just combined (a few lumps are okay).
- Brush waffle iron with butter if not non-stick. Pour in enough batter to cover surface and cook until golden and crisp.
- Remove and cool on a wire rack. Repeat with remaining batter.
Notes
- Serve with powdered sugar, fresh berries, whipped cream, or jam.
- For extra crispness, use a hot waffle iron and avoid overmixing the batter.
- Great for freezing — reheat in a toaster or oven to restore crispness.
