Description

A quick and flavorful Spicy Jalapeño Chicken Stir-Fry that comes together in just 20 minutes, featuring tender chicken, crisp vegetables, and a savory-sweet sauce enhanced with fresh jalapeños for a perfect balance of heat and flavor. Ideal for a better-than-takeout dinner any night of the week.

Ingredients

Protein

  • 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breasts, thinly sliced

Vegetables

  • 2 jalapeños, sliced (seeds removed for less heat)
  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 cup broccoli florets
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp ginger, minced

Sauces and Oils

  • 3 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 tsp honey

Seasonings and Garnish

  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Optional: sliced green onions and sesame seeds for garnish

Instructions

  1. Heat Oil: Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat to prepare for stir-frying the chicken.
  2. Cook Chicken: Add the thinly sliced chicken to the hot skillet, season with salt and pepper, and stir-fry until cooked through, about 5-6 minutes. Remove cooked chicken and set aside.
  3. Sauté Aromatics: In the same skillet, add sesame oil along with minced garlic and ginger and sauté until fragrant, about 1 minute, to build flavor.
  4. Cook Vegetables: Add sliced jalapeños, red bell pepper, and broccoli florets to the skillet and stir-fry for 3-4 minutes until vegetables are crisp-tender but still vibrant.
  5. Return Chicken: Return the cooked chicken to the skillet with the vegetables, combining ingredients evenly.
  6. Add Sauces: Stir in soy sauce, oyster sauce, and honey. Toss everything to coat evenly and heat through for an additional 2 minutes to meld flavors.
  7. Garnish: Remove the stir-fry from heat and garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds, if desired, to add freshness and a nice crunch.
  8. Serve: Serve the spicy jalapeño chicken stir-fry hot, ideal with steamed rice or noodles for a complete meal.

Notes

  • For less heat, remove seeds from the jalapeños before slicing.
  • Prepare all ingredients ahead of time because stir-frying is a quick process.
  • You can substitute chicken breasts with chicken thighs for a juicier dish.
  • Oyster sauce can be replaced by hoisin sauce for a slightly sweeter taste.
  • Serve with steamed jasmine rice, brown rice, or your favorite noodles.
