Ingredients
Protein
- 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breasts, thinly sliced
Vegetables
- 2 jalapeños, sliced (seeds removed for less heat)
- 1 red bell pepper, sliced
- 1 cup broccoli florets
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp ginger, minced
Sauces and Oils
- 3 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp oyster sauce
- 1 tbsp sesame oil
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1 tsp honey
Seasonings and Garnish
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Optional: sliced green onions and sesame seeds for garnish
Instructions
- Heat Oil: Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat to prepare for stir-frying the chicken.
- Cook Chicken: Add the thinly sliced chicken to the hot skillet, season with salt and pepper, and stir-fry until cooked through, about 5-6 minutes. Remove cooked chicken and set aside.
- Sauté Aromatics: In the same skillet, add sesame oil along with minced garlic and ginger and sauté until fragrant, about 1 minute, to build flavor.
- Cook Vegetables: Add sliced jalapeños, red bell pepper, and broccoli florets to the skillet and stir-fry for 3-4 minutes until vegetables are crisp-tender but still vibrant.
- Return Chicken: Return the cooked chicken to the skillet with the vegetables, combining ingredients evenly.
- Add Sauces: Stir in soy sauce, oyster sauce, and honey. Toss everything to coat evenly and heat through for an additional 2 minutes to meld flavors.
- Garnish: Remove the stir-fry from heat and garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds, if desired, to add freshness and a nice crunch.
- Serve: Serve the spicy jalapeño chicken stir-fry hot, ideal with steamed rice or noodles for a complete meal.
Notes
- For less heat, remove seeds from the jalapeños before slicing.
- Prepare all ingredients ahead of time because stir-frying is a quick process.
- You can substitute chicken breasts with chicken thighs for a juicier dish.
- Oyster sauce can be replaced by hoisin sauce for a slightly sweeter taste.
- Serve with steamed jasmine rice, brown rice, or your favorite noodles.
