Description

This Spicy Jalapeno and Cheese Beef Pie with Leftover Brisket is a delicious way to repurpose leftover brisket into a flavorful hand pie. Packed with jalapenos, cheddar, and pepper jack cheese, this savory pie is perfect for a quick and satisfying meal.

Ingredients

For the Filling:

  • 2 cups chopped leftover brisket
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 small onion (diced)
  • 2 garlic cloves (minced)
  • 2–3 jalapeños (seeded and finely chopped)
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/2 tsp ground cumin
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded pepper jack cheese
  • 1/4 cup barbecue sauce
  • 1 large egg (beaten)
  • 1 tbsp flour

For the Pie:

  • 1 sheet puff pastry (thawed)
  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Sauté the Vegetables: In a skillet, heat olive oil and sauté the onion, garlic, and jalapeños until softened.
  3. Prepare the Filling: Add brisket, smoked paprika, cumin, salt, pepper, and barbecue sauce. Cook briefly, then let cool.
  4. Assemble the Pie: Mix the beef with cheeses, beaten egg, and flour. Fill puff pastry, fold, seal, and brush with egg.
  5. Bake: Bake for 20–25 minutes until golden brown.
  6. Serve: Let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • You can use green chiles instead of jalapeños for a milder flavor.
  • Enjoy with sour cream or extra BBQ sauce for dipping.
