Description

This Spicy Ground Beef Taco Ring is a delicious and crowd-pleasing appetizer featuring seasoned ground beef, melted cheddar cheese, and zesty salsa wrapped in flaky crescent roll dough. Perfect for parties or casual gatherings, it’s easy to prepare and offers a Tex-Mex flavor explosion with optional toppings like black olives and jalapeños. Serve with sour cream and cilantro for a tasty and satisfying treat.

Ingredients

Beef Mixture

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 packet taco seasoning mix
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup salsa

Dough and Toppings

  • 1 can (8 oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 1/4 cup sliced black olives (optional)
  • 1 jalapeño, thinly sliced (optional)
  • Sour cream, for serving
  • Chopped cilantro, for serving

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) to ensure it reaches the perfect temperature for baking the taco ring.
  2. Cook the Ground Beef: In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until it is fully browned. Drain any excess fat to keep the filling from becoming greasy.
  3. Season the Beef: Stir in the taco seasoning mix and water into the cooked beef. Simmer for 3–4 minutes until the mixture is thickened and flavorful. Remove from heat.
  4. Add Cheese and Salsa: Mix the shredded cheddar cheese and salsa into the seasoned beef mixture, combining well for a cheesy, tangy filling.
  5. Prepare the Crescent Dough Ring: On a parchment-lined baking sheet, arrange the crescent roll dough triangles in a circle. Overlap the wide ends in the center and have the pointed ends facing outward to form a ring shape.
  6. Fill the Ring: Spoon the beef mixture evenly around the wide ends of the dough triangles in the center.
  7. Fold and Seal: Fold the pointed ends of the dough over the filling and tuck them underneath the ring to seal the taco ring securely.
  8. Add Toppings: Scatter sliced black olives and jalapeños on top of the ring if using, adding extra flavor and heat.
  9. Bake: Bake the taco ring in the preheated oven for 20–25 minutes, or until the dough is golden brown and cooked through.
  10. Cool and Serve: Allow the taco ring to cool for 5 minutes before slicing. Serve warm with sour cream and chopped cilantro for garnish.

Notes

  • Swap ground beef with ground turkey or a plant-based alternative for a lighter or vegetarian option.
  • Add diced red onions or corn to the beef mixture for extra texture and flavor.
