Ingredients
Beef Mixture
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 packet taco seasoning mix
- 1/4 cup water
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup salsa
Dough and Toppings
- 1 can (8 oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough
- 1/4 cup sliced black olives (optional)
- 1 jalapeño, thinly sliced (optional)
- Sour cream, for serving
- Chopped cilantro, for serving
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) to ensure it reaches the perfect temperature for baking the taco ring.
- Cook the Ground Beef: In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until it is fully browned. Drain any excess fat to keep the filling from becoming greasy.
- Season the Beef: Stir in the taco seasoning mix and water into the cooked beef. Simmer for 3–4 minutes until the mixture is thickened and flavorful. Remove from heat.
- Add Cheese and Salsa: Mix the shredded cheddar cheese and salsa into the seasoned beef mixture, combining well for a cheesy, tangy filling.
- Prepare the Crescent Dough Ring: On a parchment-lined baking sheet, arrange the crescent roll dough triangles in a circle. Overlap the wide ends in the center and have the pointed ends facing outward to form a ring shape.
- Fill the Ring: Spoon the beef mixture evenly around the wide ends of the dough triangles in the center.
- Fold and Seal: Fold the pointed ends of the dough over the filling and tuck them underneath the ring to seal the taco ring securely.
- Add Toppings: Scatter sliced black olives and jalapeños on top of the ring if using, adding extra flavor and heat.
- Bake: Bake the taco ring in the preheated oven for 20–25 minutes, or until the dough is golden brown and cooked through.
- Cool and Serve: Allow the taco ring to cool for 5 minutes before slicing. Serve warm with sour cream and chopped cilantro for garnish.
Notes
- Swap ground beef with ground turkey or a plant-based alternative for a lighter or vegetarian option.
- Add diced red onions or corn to the beef mixture for extra texture and flavor.
