Description

These Spicy Garlic Beef Croquettes with a crispy golden crust are a flavorful appetizer or party snack that will impress your guests. The combination of ground beef, mashed potatoes, and aromatic spices creates a delicious filling, while the panko breadcrumb coating adds a satisfying crunch.

Ingredients

For the Croquettes:

  • 1 lb ground beef, 85% lean
  • 1 cup mashed potatoes
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped onion
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 small red chili, finely chopped (or 1/2 tsp chili flakes)
  • 1/4 cup chopped parsley
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/2 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 large egg, beaten

For Coating and Frying:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 1 1/2 cups panko breadcrumbs
  • vegetable oil, for frying

Instructions

  1. Cook the Beef Mixture: In a skillet, cook onion until soft, add garlic and chili, then brown ground beef. Season with smoked paprika, cumin, salt, and pepper. Let cool.
  2. Make the Croquettes: Combine beef mixture with mashed potatoes, parsley, and egg. Shape into croquettes, coat in flour, eggs, and breadcrumbs.
  3. Fry the Croquettes: Heat oil, fry croquettes until golden and crispy. Drain on paper towels before serving hot.

Notes

  • You can substitute ground chicken or turkey for beef.
  • For less heat, use less chili or omit it entirely.
  • Croquettes can be made ahead and frozen before frying.
