Description

Spicy cabbage ramen with cheese is a bold, comforting twist on instant noodles that brings heat, crunch, and creaminess together in one irresistible bowl. Sautéed cabbage adds texture and flavor, while spicy seasonings and melty cheese turn a humble ramen packet into a crave-worthy meal perfect for a quick lunch or weeknight dinner.

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 pack instant ramen noodles (any flavor, discard seasoning if preferred)
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 2 cups shredded green cabbage
  • 1 clove garlic (minced)
  • ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes (or more to taste)
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon gochujang or sriracha
  • ½ teaspoon sesame oil
  • ½ cup shredded mozzarella cheese (or your favorite melting cheese)
  • 1 green onion (sliced, for garnish)
  • Sesame seeds (optional for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Cook Noodles: Cook the ramen noodles according to package directions, then drain and set aside.
  2. Sauté Cabbage: In a skillet or wok, heat vegetable oil over medium heat. Add the shredded cabbage and sauté for 4–5 minutes until slightly softened and starting to brown.
  3. Add Aromatics: Add the minced garlic and red pepper flakes; cook for another 30 seconds to release their flavors.
  4. Mix Seasonings: Stir in soy sauce, gochujang or sriracha, and sesame oil, mixing well to combine all the flavors.
  5. Toss Noodles: Add the cooked ramen to the skillet and toss everything together ensuring the noodles are coated with the sauce and cabbage mixture.
  6. Melt Cheese: Sprinkle shredded cheese over the noodles, reduce heat to low, and cover the pan for 1–2 minutes until the cheese melts.
  7. Combine and Garnish: Stir gently to combine the melted cheese or leave it on top for a gooey finish. Garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds before serving.

Notes

  • Use kimchi instead of or alongside cabbage for extra tang and depth.
  • Adjust the spice level by increasing or reducing the chili paste.
  • You can also top with a fried egg for more protein.
