Description

Delight in these Southern-Style Honey Butter Cornbread Poppers, a perfect bite-sized treat combining moist cornbread with a luscious honey butter glaze. These poppers offer a sweet and buttery flavor with a hint of cinnamon, ideal for parties, snacks, or a comforting side dish.

Ingredients

For the Cornbread Poppers

  • 1 box cornbread mix (plus ingredients as per package instructions, typically eggs and milk)

For the Honey Butter Glaze

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1 tsp cinnamon (optional)
  • 1/4 tsp salt

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Batter: Follow the instructions on your cornbread mix package to prepare the batter, typically mixing the cornbread mix with the required eggs and milk until smooth.
  2. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) or as directed on your cornbread mix package. Grease a mini muffin tin thoroughly to prevent sticking.
  3. Fill the Muffin Tin: Spoon the batter into the greased mini muffin cups, filling each cup about two-thirds full to allow room for rising.
  4. Bake the Poppers: Bake in the preheated oven for 10–12 minutes, or until the cornbread poppers turn golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  5. Make the Glaze: While the poppers bake, combine the melted butter, honey, cinnamon (if using), and salt in a small bowl to create the honey butter glaze.
  6. Glaze the Poppers: As soon as the poppers come out of the oven, brush them generously with the honey butter glaze to infuse sweet, buttery flavor.
  7. Serve: Allow the poppers to cool slightly, then serve them warm for the best taste and texture experience.

Notes

  • You can add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the glaze for an extra kick.
  • Use mini muffin tins to make perfect bite-sized poppers that are perfect for sharing.
  • For a dairy-free version, substitute the butter with a plant-based alternative.
  • If you prefer less sweetness, reduce the honey amount in the glaze.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container and reheat gently before serving to maintain softness.
