Description

Indulge in the decadent delight of Southern Chocolate Cobbler, a rich and gooey dessert that combines a cakey top with a luscious chocolate sauce underneath. This easy-to-make treat is a perfect combination of warm flavors and comforting sweetness.

Ingredients

For the Batter:

1 cup all-purpose flour, 2 teaspoons baking powder, ¼ teaspoon salt, ¾ cup granulated sugar, 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder, ½ cup milk, ⅓ cup unsalted butter (melted), 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

For the Topping:

¾ cup packed brown sugar, ¼ cup granulated sugar, 4 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder, 1 ½ cups boiling water

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a baking dish.
  2. Prepare the batter: Whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, sugar, and cocoa. Stir in milk, butter, and vanilla. Pour into dish.
  3. Make the topping: Mix brown sugar, granulated sugar, and cocoa. Sprinkle over batter. Pour boiling water over the top.
  4. Bake: for 35–40 minutes until set and bubbling. Let cool before serving.

Notes

Best served warm with vanilla ice cream. Sauce thickens upon cooling, creating a pudding-like base under a cakey top.
