Description

Indulge in the comforting flavors of the South with this delicious Southern Banana Cobbler recipe. A simple and satisfying dessert that showcases sweet bananas in a tender, golden crust.

Ingredients

Batter:

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup self-rising flour
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg

Additional:

  • 6 ripe bananas, sliced
  • Optional topping: whipped cream or vanilla ice cream

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and pour melted butter into a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Mix the Batter: In a medium bowl, whisk together sugar, self-rising flour, milk, vanilla, cinnamon, and nutmeg until smooth.
  3. Layer and Bake: Pour the batter over the butter without stirring. Arrange banana slices on top. Bake for 40–45 minutes until golden and set.
  4. Serve: Let cool for 10 minutes before serving warm. Top with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream if desired.

Notes

  • If you don’t have self-rising flour, substitute with 1 cup all-purpose flour, 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder, and 1/4 teaspoon salt.
  • For extra flavor, drizzle caramel sauce over the cobbler before serving.
