With a hint of almond extract and a touch of sour cream, these cookies are sure to become a favorite in your household. Perfect for any occasion or as a sweet indulgence, these cookies are easy to make and even easier to enjoy!

Ingredients

Dry Ingredients:

  • 2¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt

Wet Ingredients:

  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1½ cups granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ teaspoon almond extract (optional)
  • ¼ cup sour cream
  • Additional sugar for rolling

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare: Preheat the oven to 350°F and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Cream Butter and Sugar: In a large bowl, cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add Wet Ingredients: Beat in the egg, vanilla extract, almond extract (if using), and sour cream until smooth.
  5. Combine and Scoop: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing just until combined. Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough, roll into balls, and coat lightly in granulated sugar.
  6. Bake: Place the dough balls 2 inches apart on prepared baking sheets. Bake for 9–11 minutes until the edges are set and centers look slightly underbaked.
  7. Cool and Enjoy: Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

  • For a festive touch, roll cookies in colored sugar or add a simple glaze once cooled.
  • Store in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
