Description

Indulge in these soft, chocolatey sugar cookies that are perfect for satisfying your sweet tooth. With a rich cocoa flavor and a hint of sweetness, these cookies are a delightful treat for any occasion.

Ingredients

Dry Ingredients:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • ¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt

Wet Ingredients:

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 3 tablespoons milk
  • Extra granulated sugar for rolling

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 350°F and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. Cream butter and sugar: In a large mixing bowl, cream the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add egg and vanilla: Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.
  4. Mix dry ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Combine wet and dry ingredients: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing just until combined. Add the milk and stir until the dough is soft and smooth.
  6. Shape and bake: Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough, roll into balls, and coat each one in granulated sugar. Place the dough balls on the baking sheets and bake for 9–11 minutes.
  7. Cool and enjoy: Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • For extra richness, add ½ cup of mini chocolate chips to the dough.
  • For a more robust cocoa flavor, use dark cocoa powder.
  • These cookies freeze well for up to 2 months.
