Description

Indulge in the velvety goodness of this soft and sweet vanilla dessert. This creamy pudding is a delightful treat that can be enjoyed on its own or used to create stunning layered desserts.

Ingredients

Main Ingredients:

  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt

Additional Ingredients:

  • 2 large egg yolks
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • Whipped cream and fresh berries for topping (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Pudding Mixture: In a medium saucepan, whisk together sugar, cornstarch, and salt. Gradually whisk in milk until smooth. Cook over medium heat, whisking constantly, until thickened and bubbling, about 5–7 minutes.
  2. Temper the Egg Yolks: In a small bowl, beat egg yolks. Slowly whisk in 1/2 cup of hot milk mixture to temper the yolks. Pour yolk mixture back into the saucepan, whisking continuously. Cook for 1–2 more minutes until thickened.
  3. Finish the Pudding: Remove from heat, stir in butter and vanilla extract. Pour into serving dishes, cover with plastic wrap, and chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours.
  4. Serve: Enjoy plain or top with whipped cream and fresh berries if desired.

Notes

  • This dessert is a silky vanilla pudding that’s perfect on its own or layered in trifles and parfaits.
  • For extra flavor, consider adding a pinch of cinnamon or a splash of almond extract.
