Description

Thick-cut bacon baked to a perfect crisp with a sticky, smoky, sweet bourbon BBQ glaze — the ultimate snack or brunch side with unforgettable flavor.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb thick-cut bacon
  • 1/4 cup dark brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup smoky BBQ sauce
  • 2 tbsp bourbon
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/4 tsp freshly ground black pepper
  • Pinch of cayenne pepper (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with foil and place a wire rack on top.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together BBQ sauce, bourbon, brown sugar, paprika, black pepper, and cayenne (if using).
  3. Arrange bacon in a single layer on the rack. Brush generously with glaze.
  4. Bake for 10-12 minutes. Flip, brush with more glaze, and bake another 10-15 minutes until caramelized and crispy.
  5. Let bacon rest 5 minutes to set glaze before serving.

Notes

  • Use parchment between layers for storage to keep bacon crisp.
  • Substitute apple juice or coffee for bourbon if avoiding alcohol.
  • Excellent atop burgers, in sandwiches, or served with eggs and grits.
