Description
Thick-cut bacon glazed with a sticky, smoky-sweet mixture of bourbon, BBQ sauce, and spices. Perfect for brunch, burgers, or an irresistible appetizer.
Ingredients
- 1 lb thick-cut bacon
- 2 tbsp bourbon (mid-shelf recommended)
- 1/3 cup smoky BBQ sauce
- 2 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- 1/2 tsp freshly cracked black pepper
- Dash of hot sauce (optional)
- Sliced scallions, chopped parsley, or toasted sesame seeds for garnish (optional)
- Flaked sea salt for finishing (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment or foil and place a wire rack on top. Spray with nonstick spray.
- In a bowl, whisk together BBQ sauce, bourbon, brown sugar, smoked paprika, black pepper, and hot sauce if using. Taste and adjust seasoning.
- Lay bacon strips in a single layer on the prepared rack. Don’t overcrowd.
- Brush each slice with glaze. Bake for 12-15 minutes.
- Flip bacon, brush with more glaze, and bake an additional 8-10 minutes. Watch closely to avoid burning.
- Transfer bacon to parchment or a clean rack to cool. The glaze will set as it cools.
- Garnish with scallions, parsley, sesame seeds, or sea salt if desired.
Notes
- Substitute bourbon with unsweetened apple juice and a splash of vanilla extract for a non-alcoholic version.
- Serve bacon on skewers, in burgers, on pancakes, or chopped into salads.
- Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 4 days or freeze up to 1 month.
