These Smoked Gouda Fritters are cheesy, crispy bites that make a delicious appetizer or snack. They are easy to prepare and perfect for entertaining guests or enjoying as a tasty treat.
Ingredients
For the Fritters:
- 1 ½ cups shredded smoked Gouda cheese
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup cornmeal
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 large eggs
- 1/4 cup milk
- 2 tablespoons chopped chives
- vegetable oil for frying
Instructions
- Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the flour, cornmeal, baking powder, garlic powder, smoked paprika, and salt.
- Prepare Wet Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs and milk.
- Combine and Add Cheese: Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Fold in the shredded smoked Gouda and chopped chives.
- Fry the Fritters: Heat vegetable oil in a skillet. Drop spoonfuls of the batter into the hot oil and fry until golden brown and crisp on both sides.
- Serve: Drain the fritters on paper towels and serve warm.
Notes
- Serve with a spicy aioli, honey mustard, or creamy ranch for dipping.
- Best enjoyed fresh but can be reheated in the oven at 350°F for 5–7 minutes.
- For a twist, add finely diced jalapeños or cooked bacon to the batter.
