Description

These Smoked Gouda Fritters are cheesy, crispy bites that make a delicious appetizer or snack. They are easy to prepare and perfect for entertaining guests or enjoying as a tasty treat.

Ingredients

For the Fritters:

  • 1 ½ cups shredded smoked Gouda cheese
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup cornmeal
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons chopped chives
  • vegetable oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the flour, cornmeal, baking powder, garlic powder, smoked paprika, and salt.
  2. Prepare Wet Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs and milk.
  3. Combine and Add Cheese: Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Fold in the shredded smoked Gouda and chopped chives.
  4. Fry the Fritters: Heat vegetable oil in a skillet. Drop spoonfuls of the batter into the hot oil and fry until golden brown and crisp on both sides.
  5. Serve: Drain the fritters on paper towels and serve warm.

Notes

  • Serve with a spicy aioli, honey mustard, or creamy ranch for dipping.
  • Best enjoyed fresh but can be reheated in the oven at 350°F for 5–7 minutes.
  • For a twist, add finely diced jalapeños or cooked bacon to the batter.
