Description
Juicy smoked burgers packed with bold Cajun flavor, topped with melty cheese and fresh toppings, perfect for a quick and satisfying dinner.
Ingredients
- 1.5 lbs ground beef (80/20 blend)
- 2 tbsp Cajun seasoning
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- 4 slices cheddar or pepper jack cheese
- 4 brioche or potato burger buns
- Lettuce leaves
- Sliced tomatoes
- Pickles
- Red onion slices (optional)
- Mayonnaise or Cajun aioli (optional)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine ground beef, Cajun seasoning, smoked paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix just until combined.
- Divide mixture and form into 4 patties, pressing a small indentation in the center of each. Chill for 15–20 minutes.
- Preheat smoker or grill to 225°F (or medium-high heat for grilling). Cook over indirect heat until internal temp reaches 135–140°F for medium.
- Finish with a quick sear over high heat for a charred crust.
- Place cheese slices on patties during the last minute or two of cooking and cover to melt.
- Toast buns lightly on the grill or in a skillet.
- Assemble burgers with toppings and a swipe of mayo or Cajun aioli. Serve hot.
Notes
- Use cold meat for better patty integrity.
- Don’t overmix the meat to avoid tough burgers.
- Indentation in patties ensures even cooking.
- Let patties rest a few minutes after cooking for juicier burgers.
