Description

Enjoy a taste of Philly with these delicious Slow Cooker Chicken Philly Sandwiches. Tender shredded chicken, bell peppers, and onions are seasoned to perfection and served on toasted hoagie rolls with melted provolone cheese.

Ingredients

Ingredients:

  • 2 lbs boneless skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 green bell pepper (sliced)
  • 1 red bell pepper (sliced)
  • 1 yellow onion (sliced)
  • 2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 cup low-sodium chicken broth
  • 6 hoagie rolls
  • 6 slices provolone cheese

Instructions

  1. Place the chicken in the slow cooker: Add chicken breasts to the slow cooker.
  2. Add vegetables and seasonings: Top with sliced bell peppers and onions. Sprinkle with garlic powder, onion powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
  3. Cook: Pour in chicken broth. Cover and cook on low for 6–7 hours or high for 3–4 hours until chicken is tender.
  4. Shred and assemble: Shred chicken in the slow cooker, mix with vegetables and juices. Toast hoagie rolls, spoon chicken mixture onto each, add provolone cheese, and serve.

Notes

  • For added flavor, toast hoagie rolls with cheese in the oven until melted.
  • Can use mozzarella or pepper jack cheese.
  • Leftovers are great for wraps or quesadillas.
