Ingredients
Shrimp Alfredo Ingredients
- 8 oz (225g) large shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 8 oz (225g) fettuccine pasta
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley, for garnish
Instructions
- Cook the pasta: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the fettuccine and cook according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- Sauté the shrimp: In a large skillet over medium heat, melt 1 tablespoon of butter. Add the shrimp, season with salt and pepper, and sauté until pink and cooked through, about 2-3 minutes per side. Remove shrimp from skillet and set aside.
- Make the Alfredo sauce: In the same skillet, melt the remaining 1 tablespoon of butter. Add the minced garlic and cook for about 1 minute until fragrant. Pour in the heavy cream and bring to a simmer. Let it cook for 2-3 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Add Parmesan cheese: Gradually whisk in the grated Parmesan cheese until the sauce is smooth and creamy. Season with additional salt and pepper to taste.
- Combine pasta and shrimp: Add the cooked fettuccine and shrimp back into the skillet with the Alfredo sauce. Toss gently to coat everything evenly and heat through for 1-2 minutes.
- Serve: Plate the Shrimp Alfredo and garnish with freshly chopped parsley. Serve immediately for a delicious and comforting meal.
Notes
- For a lighter version, substitute heavy cream with half-and-half or whole milk and reduce the amount of butter.
- If you don’t have fresh parsley, dried parsley or basil can be used as a substitute.
- To enhance flavor, sprinkle some freshly grated nutmeg into the sauce along with the garlic.
- You can add a squeeze of lemon juice to the shrimp for a subtle citrus brightness.
- Ensure not to overcook the shrimp to keep them tender and juicy.
