Description

Shack Sauce is the creamy, tangy, sweet, and savory secret sauce that makes every burger just a little bit extra. Inspired by the iconic sauce from Shake Shack, this flavorful condiment blends mayo, ketchup, mustard, pickles, and a touch of spice for a versatile spread ideal for burgers, sandwiches, and dipping fries.

Ingredients

Units Scale

Base

  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon yellow mustard

Flavor Boosters

  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika (smoked or sweet)
  • Pinch of cayenne pepper (optional, for heat)

Pickle Tang

  • 3 slices dill pickle, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon pickle brine

Seasoning

  • Pinch of salt (to taste)
  • Pinch of black pepper (to taste)

Instructions

  1. Mix the Base: In a medium bowl, combine mayonnaise, ketchup, and yellow mustard. Stir well until the mixture is smooth and completely blended.
  2. Add the Flavor Boosters: Sprinkle in the garlic powder, paprika, and cayenne pepper, if using. Stir again to incorporate the spices evenly throughout the sauce.
  3. Stir in Pickle Ingredients: Finely chop the dill pickle slices and add them to the bowl, along with the pickle brine. Mix thoroughly to distribute the pickle pieces and tangy brine.
  4. Season and Adjust: Add a pinch of salt and black pepper. Taste the sauce and adjust seasoning or acidity, adding more pickle brine or salt as preferred.
  5. Chill and Serve: Cover the sauce and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow flavors to meld. Serve chilled on burgers, sandwiches, or as a dip for fries and veggies.

Notes

  • This sauce stays fresh in the fridge for up to 1 week in an airtight container.
  • For extra tang, add more pickle brine or a splash of vinegar.
  • Try swapping dill pickles for bread-and-butter pickles for sweeter notes.
  • Adjust the cayenne for more or less heat as desired.
