Description

These Salted Honey Butter Buttermilk Biscuits are a delightful treat that perfectly balances sweet and savory flavors. With flaky layers and a touch of honey butter, they are a Southern classic that will elevate any meal.

Ingredients

Main Biscuit Ingredients:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon fine sea salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 3/4 cup buttermilk (plus more for brushing)
  • 2 tablespoons honey

For the Salted Honey Butter:

  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • Flaky sea salt, to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare: Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Cut in Butter: Add the cold, cubed butter and cut it into the flour until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Add Wet Ingredients: Stir in the honey, then add the buttermilk and mix until dough comes together.
  5. Create Layers: Turn out dough, pat into a rectangle, fold in thirds, and repeat to create layers.
  6. Cut and Bake: Pat out dough, cut out rounds, place on baking sheet, brush with buttermilk, and bake for 12–15 minutes.
  7. Make Salted Honey Butter: Mix softened butter with honey and salt. Serve warm biscuits with the butter.

Notes

  • For extra flaky layers, chill cut biscuits in the fridge for 10 minutes before baking.
  • Unbaked biscuits can be frozen for later—bake straight from frozen, adding 2–3 minutes to the bake time.
