Description

Indulge in the decadent and creamy goodness of Salted Caramel Chocolate Mousse Cups. These delightful treats feature layers of rich chocolate mousse infused with caramel sauce, topped with a dollop of whipped cream, and finished with a sprinkle of flaky sea salt for the perfect balance of sweet and salty flavors.

Ingredients

For the Chocolate Mousse:

  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 large eggs (separated)
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream (divided)

For Assembly and Topping:

  • ½ cup caramel sauce (plus extra for topping)
  • ½ teaspoon flaky sea salt
  • Optional: chocolate shavings or whipped cream for garnish

Instructions

  1. Melt the Chocolate: In a heatproof bowl, melt the chocolate chips and butter together until smooth. Stir in egg yolks, vanilla, and ¼ cup of caramel sauce.
  2. Prepare the Mousse: Beat egg whites until stiff peaks form. Whip cream to soft peaks. Fold whipped cream into chocolate mixture, then fold in egg whites. Chill for 2 hours.
  3. Assemble and Serve: Top mousse cups with whipped cream, caramel sauce, and sea salt. Garnish with chocolate shavings or whipped cream.

Notes

  • Ensure the chocolate mixture is cooled before adding egg yolks.
  • Can be made up to 24 hours in advance.
