Description

A creamy, zesty condiment made with mayonnaise, ketchup, horseradish, and spices. This versatile homemade Russian Dressing is perfect for Reubens, burgers, salads, or as a bold dipping sauce. Simple to make and packed with flavor!

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 2 tsp prepared horseradish
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp white vinegar or fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp sweet pickle relish
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • Salt, to taste
  • Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • Optional: a few dashes hot sauce (to taste)

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, stir together the mayonnaise and ketchup until fully blended into a smooth, pale pink base.
  2. Add horseradish, Worcestershire sauce, vinegar or lemon juice, sweet pickle relish, and paprika. Mix thoroughly to incorporate all ingredients evenly.
  3. Season with salt, black pepper, and hot sauce (if using) to taste. Stir again until well combined.
  4. Transfer to a jar or airtight container and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow flavors to meld.
  5. Before serving, give it a quick stir. Enjoy chilled or at room temperature as a sandwich spread, salad dressing, or dip.

Notes

  • To make vegan: use plant-based mayonnaise and ensure Worcestershire sauce is vegan.
  • For a milder version, omit horseradish or replace with a teaspoon of Dijon mustard.
  • Best used within a week; store in the fridge in an airtight container.
