A creamy, zesty condiment made with mayonnaise, ketchup, horseradish, and spices. This versatile homemade Russian Dressing is perfect for Reubens, burgers, salads, or as a bold dipping sauce. Simple to make and packed with flavor!
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 1/4 cup ketchup
- 2 tsp prepared horseradish
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tbsp white vinegar or fresh lemon juice
- 1 tbsp sweet pickle relish
- 1/2 tsp paprika
- Salt, to taste
- Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- Optional: a few dashes hot sauce (to taste)
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, stir together the mayonnaise and ketchup until fully blended into a smooth, pale pink base.
- Add horseradish, Worcestershire sauce, vinegar or lemon juice, sweet pickle relish, and paprika. Mix thoroughly to incorporate all ingredients evenly.
- Season with salt, black pepper, and hot sauce (if using) to taste. Stir again until well combined.
- Transfer to a jar or airtight container and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow flavors to meld.
- Before serving, give it a quick stir. Enjoy chilled or at room temperature as a sandwich spread, salad dressing, or dip.
Notes
- To make vegan: use plant-based mayonnaise and ensure Worcestershire sauce is vegan.
- For a milder version, omit horseradish or replace with a teaspoon of Dijon mustard.
- Best used within a week; store in the fridge in an airtight container.
