Description

These Red Velvet Spritz Cookies are a delightful treat perfect for the holiday season or any time you crave a sweet, festive indulgence. With a rich red velvet flavor and a hint of cocoa, these cookies are easy to make and even easier to enjoy.

Ingredients

Main Ingredients:

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder
  • Red gel food coloring (as needed for vibrant color)
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Optional for Decorating:

  • White chocolate drizzle or sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cream butter and sugar: In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add wet ingredients: Beat in the egg, vanilla extract, vinegar, and cocoa powder until fully combined.
  4. Color the dough: Add red food coloring gradually until the desired red velvet shade is reached.
  5. Mix dry ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour and salt, then gradually mix it into the wet ingredients until a soft dough forms.
  6. Use a cookie press: Load the dough into a cookie press fitted with your favorite shape plate. Press cookies onto an ungreased baking sheet, spacing about 1 inch apart.
  7. Bake: Bake for 8 to 10 minutes, or until the edges are just set.
  8. Cool and decorate: Let cool on the baking sheet for 2 minutes before transferring to a wire rack. Once completely cool, drizzle with melted white chocolate or add sprinkles if desired.

Notes

  • Use gel food coloring for richer color without thinning the dough.
  • These cookies freeze well and are great for gifting or holiday trays.
  • If you don’t have a cookie press, you can roll the dough into balls and press gently with a fork.
