Description
Puff Pastry Pizza offers a delightful twist on classic pizza with a flaky, buttery puff pastry crust. Topped with rich pizza sauce, gooey mozzarella cheese, and your favorite toppings, it’s an easy-to-make, crowd-pleasing dish perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients
- 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
- 1/2 cup pizza sauce
- 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup pepperoni slices (or favorite toppings)
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp dried Italian herbs (optional)
- Fresh basil (optional, for garnish)
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Gently thaw the puff pastry according to package instructions, then unfold it onto the prepared baking sheet. If the edges crack, press them gently back together with your fingers.
- Prick the pastry all over with a fork, leaving a 1-inch border around the edges. Bake for 10 minutes, until it just starts to puff and turn pale golden.
- Remove from the oven and spread pizza sauce evenly over the center, leaving the border clean for a puffed crust. Sprinkle mozzarella cheese all over the sauce.
- Add your choice of toppings (pepperoni, veggies, or others), ensuring you don’t overload the pastry.
- Return the pizza to the oven and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, until the edges are golden brown and the cheese is bubbling and melted.
- Remove from the oven and, if desired, sprinkle with dried herbs and fresh basil. Slice into squares or strips and serve immediately.
Notes
- If you prefer a golden finish on the edges, brush them with a little olive oil or egg wash before baking.
- For a gluten-free version, use gluten-free puff pastry.
- For mini versions, simply cut the pastry into smaller squares or circles before adding toppings and baking.
- Make sure not to overload the puff pastry with too many toppings, as this can affect the crispiness of the crust.
