Description

Puff Pastry Pizza offers a delightful twist on classic pizza with a flaky, buttery puff pastry crust. Topped with rich pizza sauce, gooey mozzarella cheese, and your favorite toppings, it’s an easy-to-make, crowd-pleasing dish perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
  • 1/2 cup pizza sauce
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup pepperoni slices (or favorite toppings)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp dried Italian herbs (optional)
  • Fresh basil (optional, for garnish)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Gently thaw the puff pastry according to package instructions, then unfold it onto the prepared baking sheet. If the edges crack, press them gently back together with your fingers.
  3. Prick the pastry all over with a fork, leaving a 1-inch border around the edges. Bake for 10 minutes, until it just starts to puff and turn pale golden.
  4. Remove from the oven and spread pizza sauce evenly over the center, leaving the border clean for a puffed crust. Sprinkle mozzarella cheese all over the sauce.
  5. Add your choice of toppings (pepperoni, veggies, or others), ensuring you don’t overload the pastry.
  6. Return the pizza to the oven and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, until the edges are golden brown and the cheese is bubbling and melted.
  7. Remove from the oven and, if desired, sprinkle with dried herbs and fresh basil. Slice into squares or strips and serve immediately.

Notes

  • If you prefer a golden finish on the edges, brush them with a little olive oil or egg wash before baking.
  • For a gluten-free version, use gluten-free puff pastry.
  • For mini versions, simply cut the pastry into smaller squares or circles before adding toppings and baking.
  • Make sure not to overload the puff pastry with too many toppings, as this can affect the crispiness of the crust.
