Description

Indulge in the perfect balance of sweet and salty with these Pretzel Bottom Caramel Brownies. A crunchy pretzel crust topped with fudgy brownie, gooey caramel, and a sprinkle of sea salt creates a decadent treat for any occasion.

Ingredients

Pretzel Crust:

  • 1 1/2 cups crushed pretzels
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar

Brownie Layer:

  • 1 box brownie mix (plus ingredients listed on the box—usually eggs, oil, and water)
  • 1/2 cup caramel sauce (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1/2 teaspoon sea salt (optional)
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans or chocolate chips (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a 9×9-inch baking pan with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
  2. Prepare Pretzel Crust: In a medium bowl, mix crushed pretzels, melted butter, and brown sugar. Press the mixture into the pan and bake for 8 minutes.
  3. Prepare Brownie Batter: Mix the brownie batter and pour half over the pretzel crust. Drizzle caramel sauce, swirl gently, then pour the remaining batter.
  4. Add Toppings: Drizzle more caramel, sprinkle sea salt, and add pecans/chocolate chips if desired.
  5. Bake: Bake for 30–35 minutes until a toothpick comes out with moist crumbs. Cool before slicing.

Notes

  • For extra crunch, add whole pretzels on top.
  • You can use a homemade brownie recipe instead.
  • These brownies freeze well—wrap tightly and thaw before serving.
