Description

Make your own Pop Rocks Bubble Gum with this fun and easy recipe. This homemade bubble gum is packed with the popping candy fun of Pop Rocks for a delightful treat that’s perfect for kids and adults alike.

Ingredients

Bubble Gum Base:

  • 1/2 cup bubble gum base (chopped or pellets)

Additional Ingredients:

  • 2 tablespoons corn syrup
  • 1 cup powdered sugar (plus extra for dusting)
  • 1/2 teaspoon food-grade flavoring (such as cotton candy or fruit punch)
  • 1–2 teaspoons Pop Rocks candy (any flavor)
  • Food coloring (optional)

Instructions

  1. Melt the Gum Base: In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the gum base and corn syrup in 20-second intervals, stirring between each, until fully melted and pliable (about 60–90 seconds total).
  2. Add Flavoring and Sugar: Stir in the flavoring and food coloring if using. Carefully mix in the powdered sugar a little at a time until the mixture becomes a dough-like consistency.
  3. Knead the Gum: Transfer to a powdered sugar-dusted surface and knead the gum until smooth and pliable, about 2–3 minutes. Let cool slightly if too hot to handle.
  4. Add Pop Rocks: Once the gum is slightly warm but not hot, gently fold in the Pop Rocks, being careful not to crush them. Roll into bite-sized balls or press into molds.
  5. Cool and Store: Let cool completely before chewing to keep the Pop Rocks from dissolving. Store in an airtight container at room temperature.

Notes

  • Add the Pop Rocks only when the gum has cooled slightly to preserve the popping effect.
  • Wear gloves while kneading if using food coloring.
  • Best enjoyed within a few days for the crispiest pop.
